CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's swimming & diving team placed second out of five teams at the Cortland Snow Flurries Invitational on Saturday evening. The Red Dragons scored 699, while Cortland won the meet with 1,189.
The day opened with the 400-yard medley relay, where senior Alli LaBarbera (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook), junior Alexandria Bard (Duanesburg, NY/Duanesburg), and freshmen Sydney Richards (Rochester, NY) and Mary Bush (Binghamton, NY) swam 4:35.23 for fourth overall.
In the 400-yard IM, Richards placed fifth at 5:26.63. LaBarbera grabbed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle with a 2:11.90.
Freshman Krista Broussard (Chesterfield, VA/Thomas Dale) earned third in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:24.33, while sophomore Kaidyn Thompson (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) finished fourth at 1:24.40. Junior Raina Wille swam a 1:30.63 for sixth, and freshman Hayes Drogan took seventh at 1:32.80.
In the 100-yard backstroke, junior Alaska Lilliock (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) was sixth (1:11.13), Bard finished seventh (1:11.46), senior Alyssa Thompson (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) placed eighth (1:14.84), and freshman Madeleine Cantwell (Buffalo, NY/Amherst Central) took ninth (1:16.2).
The 200-yard freestyle relay of Bard, Bush, Lilliock, and LaBarbera finished fourth overall at 1:50.19.
The 200-yard backstroke saw Bard earn third at 2:30.68. Lilliock swam a 2:35.05 for fifth.
LaBarbera took second in the 100-yard freestyle at 58.03. Bush grabbed ninth at 1:03.54. In the 200-yard breaststroke, Richards touched at 2:50.23 for seventh, and sophomore Kaidyn Thompson (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) was eighth at 3:06.61. Willie swam a 3:13.35 for ninth.
The meet concluded with the 400-yard freestyle relay. Lilliock, Broussard, Bush, and LaBarbera tallied a fourth-place finish at 4:10.36.
Oneonta has a break until it resumes dual meet against Cortland at home on Jan. 23. Â
