Red Dragons Sit Third After Second Day of Electric City Invitational

SCRANTON, PA - After two days and three sessions, the Oneonta women's swimming & diving team sits third out of seven teams at the Electric City Invitational hosted by Marywood University with 326 points. Lock Haven is currently in first with 642 points.

The Red Dragons opened Friday evening by placing sixth in the 200-yard medley relay with freshman Madeleine Cantwell (Buffalo, NY/Amherst Central), Sydney Richards (Rochester, NY), Krista Broussard (Chesterfield, VA/Thomas Dale), and junior Alaska Lilliock (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) swimming a 2:10.36. Oneonta then took fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Lilliock, Broussard, freshman Mary Bush (Binghamton, NY), and senior Alli LaBarbera (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) finished at 1:48.85.

Saturday morning's session saw the Red Dragons compete in four events. Bush led Oneonta in the 500-yard freestyle at 6:01.50 for seventh overall. In the 200-yard IM, Richards touched third overall at 2:28.83, while junior Ronnie Coe (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) took eighth at 2:50.85.

LaBarbera finished as the top Division III swimmer in the 50-yard freestyle, only behind two Division II finishers from Lock Haven. She placed third at 26.18. Lilliock swam a 27.64 for 12th overall, and Broussard took 14th at 28.24.

Oneonta concluded the morning session with the 400-yard medley relay, where the Red Dragons placed fifth. Cantwell, Richards, Bush, and LaBarbera posted a 4:38.04.

In the afternoon portion, the Red Dragons started with the 100-yard butterfly. Bush swam a 1:10.02 for ninth overall.

LaBarbera posted a 2:09.51 in the 200-yard freestyle for fifth place. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Richards recorded a 1:17.44 for ninth. Lilliock continued with an eighth-place performance in the 100-yard at 1:10.63, while Cantwell was 10th at 1:13.93.

The day ended with the 800-yard freestyle relay, where the Red Dragons placed sixth. Bush, Richards, LaBarbera, and Lilliock tallied a time of 9:26.98.

Oneonta concludes the Electric City Invitational on Sunday, November 23 at 10 a.m.
