ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's swimming & diving team took second out of three teams to open the season at the Hartwick Relays on Sunday. The Red Dragons scored 96 points, while Hartwick won with 190.
Oneonta placed second in the 300-yard backstroke relay with juniors Alexandria Bard (Duanesburg, NY/Duanesburg), Alaska Lilliock (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy), and freshman Madeleine Cantwell (Buffalo, NY/Amherst Central) swimming a 3:29.52. The 300-yard breaststroke relay of freshmen Krista Broussard (Chesterfield, VA/Thomas Dale) and Sydney Ricards, and junior Raina Willie (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville Senior) was third at 4:11.55.
The Red Dragons placed second in the 850-yard freestyle relay with the group of Lilliock, Bard, Cantwell, and senior Alyssa Thompson (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) finishing at 10:27.25.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Bard, junior Ashley Brousseau (Peru, NY/Peru Central), Lilliock, and senior Alli LaBarbera (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) grabbed second at 1:50.43. Oneonta took second in the 600-yard medley relay with Broussard, freshman Mary Bush (Binghamton, NY), and Richards swimming an 8:08.87.
Oneonta placed second in the 200-yard medley relay with Thompson, Willie, sophomore Destiny Duckworth (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley), and Lilliock finishing at 2:19.31. The 400-yard freestyle relay of Bard, Broussard, Bush, and LaBarbera earned second at 4:13.26. The Red Dragons wrapped up the relays in the 800-yard medley with Cantwell, Richards, and Bush placing third at 10:51.72.
In the diving events, senior Macayla Hodkinson (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) took second in the one-meter dive with 193.90 points. She finished second in the three-meter dive with 188.35 points. Senior Madeline Boyar placed fifth in the one-meter dive at 165.35 points.
Oneonta next hosts Oswego on Saturday, October 18, at 1 p.m.
