Red Dragons Sweep Giants and Great Danes in Keystone Tri-Meet

LA PLUME, PA. -- The Oneonta wrestling team defeated Keystone College and University at Albany in a tri-meet hosted by Keystone, Tuesday afternoon. The Red Dragons combined for seven falls and three tech falls on the day and beat the Giants, 55-0, and the Great Danes, 41-18. Junior Aydin DeForest (West Winfield, NY/Mount Markham) finished the meet 2-0 with two first round pins as the team improved to 9-0 in dual matches, while Keystone moved to 3-15 overall.

Oneonta 55, Keystone 0
Sophomore Tristan Hinchcliff (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) (125 lbs.), senior Danny Poggi (West Islip, NY/West Islip) (133 lbs.), and junior Avery Leonard (Milford, N.Y./Milford Central) (149 lbs.) all won their matches via forfeit. Freshman Jackson Maby (Susquehanna, PA/Susquehanna Community) defeated Justin Santiago with a 16-0 tech fall at 141 lbs., and freshman Ryley Monica (Adams, NY/South Jefferson Central) picked up a 20-1 tech fall victory over Codi Bomboy at 157 lbs.

Sophomore Matt Coffey (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) (165 lbs.), DeForest (174 lbs.), and senior Jack Ryan (Trumbull, CT/) (184 lbs.) all pinned their opponents. Coffey recorded a 3:46 fall against Dalten Klinges, DeForest pinned Mariano Monacelli in 42 seconds, and Ryan had a 1:07 fall over James Craig. LiCastri recorded an 8-2 decision over Nero Bono at 197 lbs., and junior Kennith Jackson (New Orleans, LA/) finished the match with a 6:12 fall against Rocco Adruini at 285 lbs. for the shutout victory.

Oneonta 41, Albany 18
Tristan Hinchcliff (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) started their match against Albany with a 1:46 pin against Anthony Gaetani, then his twin brother, sophomore Cameron Hinchcliff (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa), followed up with a 16-0 tech fall at 133 lbs. against Alex Starace. Junior Jack Kohrs (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury High School) (157 lbs.), Coffey (165 lbs.), and sophomore Mason Rappold (/) (174 lbs.) all recorded victories via forfeit.

DeForest and LiCastri each pinned their opponents in the first round at 184 lbs. and 197 lbs., respectively. DeForest recorded a 1:01 fall against Harry Conway, while LiCastri pinned Joseph Perreta at 1:10.

Oneonta is back in action on Saturday, January 11, for the Manganaro Duals in Ursinus College starting at 10 am.
