WILKES-BARRE, PA. -- The Oneonta wrestling team competed at the John Reese Duals at Wilkes University on Saturday and finished 2-1 with wins over Muhlenberg and Keystone. The Red Dragons defeated the Mules, 33-17, and the Giants, 49-3, while they fell to the Wilkes, 36-15. Junior
Avery Leonard (Milford, N.Y./Milford Central) finished the day 3-0 with two tech falls and recorded his 100th collegiate win. Sophomore
Mason Rappold (/) went 3-0 with three first period falls as the Red Dragons improved to 14-2 in dual matches.
Oneonta 33, Muhlenberg 17
Leonard's milestone victory was a 17-2 tech fall at 2:43 in his 149 lb. bout against Muhlenberg's Alex Greco. Freshman
Ryley Monica (Adams, NY/South Jefferson Central) recorded an 18-1 tech fall in 4:45 at 157 lbs. against Ethan Kreuzberg and senior
Carson LiCastri (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow High School) had a 15-0 tech fall in 3:41 at 197 lbs. over Noah Schlofer.
Sophomore
Matt Coffey (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow), Rappold, and junior
Kennith Jackson (New Orleans, LA/) all recorded first round falls. Coffey pinned Chris Sockler in 45 seconds, Rappold had a 1:19 fall against Payce Lamb at 165 lbs., and Jackson capped off the win with a 1:30 pin over Ben Krauss at 285 lbs.
Oneonta 49, Keystone 3
Junior
Jack Kohrs (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury High School) pinned Codi Bomboy in 1:02 at 157 lbs., and Rappold had a 2:08 fall over James Craig at 184 lbs. LiCastri beat Nero Bono in a 13-5 major decision at 197, and Jackson defeated Rocco Arduini in a 1-0 decision at 285. Sophomores

The Red Dragons won three matches against the Colonels. Poggi scored a 10-2 decision at 133 lbs., Leonard recorded an 18-1 tech fall in 3:25 at 149 lbs., and Rappold finished his day with a 31 second fall at 165 lbs.
Oneonta is back home on Wednesday, February 5, for a dual match against Oswego starting at 7 pm.
