ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team returned home from a four-game road trip and defeated Misericordia University, 1-0, Wednesday afternoon on All College Field. Both defenses turned it into a game of chess and shut down the others' offensive attack throughout the day. Sophomore
Alexandra Howell (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) scored the game-winner in the second period for the Red Dragons to improve to 5-3 this season, while the Cougars dropped to 2-5 overall.
Howell recorded the game-winning goal off a penalty corner at 25:46. Sophomore
Abigail Draper (Remsen, NY/Holland Patent) hit the ball out to graduate student
Erin Clark (Somers, N.Y./Somers) at the top of the shooting circle. Clark passed it to the left to graduate student
Michaela Maniscalco (Northport, N.Y./Northport) for a shot that went straight off Howell's stick and redirected into the right side of the cage. The goal was Howell's team-high sixth of the season and it was Maniscalco's second assist this year.
