SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- A couple members of the SUNY Oneonta women's tennis team traveled to Skidmore College to compete at the ITA Northeast Regionals this past weekend. The Red Dragons sent junior
Danielle Copp (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) and sophomore
Haley Peck (West Point, N.Y./James I. O'Neil) to participate in the event that consisted of student-athletes from numerous colleges throughout the northeast. New York University's Jimena Menendez won the singles open, while Skidmore's Konika Dhull and Grace Truong won the doubles bracket.
In singles play, Copp fell to Union's Luisa Arizpe Sierra in the first round, 6-0, 6-0. Peck dropped to New York University's Isabella Hartman in her opening match, 6-0, 6-0. Hartman advanced to the semifinals and lost to the eventual winner, Menendez.
Copp and Peck teamed up for the doubles bracket and were defeated by Kira Kronenberg and Emily Greb (RIT), 8-0, in the opening round. Kronenberg and Greb made it to the quarterfinals in the tournament.
The Red Dragons are back in action for match play against Utica on Wednesday, September 25, at 3:30 pm.
