ONEONTA, N.Y. - On Monday, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its 2024 Track and Field All-Academic Awards. The honorees were recent Oneonta women's track & field graduates Ejim Nnate (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) and Isabella Fabrizio (Highland Mills, NY/Cornwall), who earned All-Academic Athlete recognition. The Oneonta men's and women's track and field programs also earned All-Academic Team recognition.
To be named an NCAA Division III All-Academic Athlete, one must achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and have either finished the indoor season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS or have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the indoor descending order list on TFRRS.
Nnate took All-American honors in indoor and outdoor seasons and was a first-team honoree in the 60-meter hurdles. She placed seventh in the indoor 60-meter hurdles at 8.70 and broke the school record in the prelims at 8.64. In the 100-meter hurdles, Nnate placed 16th at 14.59 at the NCAA Division III Championships to be a second-team All-American. She set the school record at 14.43 at the RPI Capital District Classic. Nnate was AARTFC All-Region in both events and was All-SUNYAC Second Team in the 100-hurdles and 60-hurdles and All-SUNYAC Third Team in the long jump. She finished with a 3.35 cumulative GPA and a music industry degree.
Fabrizio was an outdoor NCAA Division III All-American Second Team athlete in the shot put. She placed 13th at the NCAA Division III championship meet with a program record of 13.76 meters. Fabrizio was the SUNYAC outdoor shot put champion at 13.67 meters. She was All-AARTFC and USTFCCCA All-Region in the shot put. In the indoor season, Fabrizio was second-team All-American in the shot put at 13.16 meters for 16th overall. Additionally, Fabrizio was All-SUNYAC second team in the indoor shot put and All-SUNYAC Third Team in the weight throw. Fabrizio finished with a 3.76 cumulative GPA in exercise science.
Both the men's and women's teams picked up All-Academic honors. The men's team finished the year with a 3.1 cumulative GPA, while the women's team posted a 3.37. The criteria for a team to be named an NCAA Division III All-Academic Team includes a cumulative team GPA of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility of at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale.
