Box Score BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The fourth-seeded SUNY Oneonta women's tennis team dropped in the semifinals of the SUNYAC tournament to top-seeded New Paltz, 5-0, Friday afternoon.  Geneseo defeated Cortland in the other semifinal matchup and will face the Hawks Saturday, April 27, at 1 pm.

Oneonta came up short in two close battles on the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts. Senior Sophia Schutte (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck) and Brianna Shaw (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) were bested by Justine Stanejko and Loretta Donovan, 8-6, on the ones court, while senior Julia Holtermann (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) and freshman Haley Peck (West Point, N.Y./James I. O'Neil) fell to Onalee Batcheller and Isabel van der Veen on the twos court in another 8-6 final. Senior Illana Ger (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) and sophomore Danielle Copp (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) were outpaced by Tatiana Barnett and Nina Genzone on the threes court, 8-3.

New Paltz took courts five and six in singles play to secure the win. Amirah Alston defeated Ger on the No. 5 court, and Olivia Kunz beat sophomore Kelly Hayes (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) on the No. 6 court. The Hawks had the advantage in the remaining unfinished singles matches where Holtermann, Peck and Copp were all edge out in their respective first sets, 6-4.

The match marks the end for the collegiate careers of Ger, Holtermann, Schutte, and Shaw, as the Red Dragons finished the season 11-11 overall.
