SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta softball team swept their non-conference doubleheader against Skidmore, Monday afternoon. The Red Dragons won game one, 11-7, then secured game two, 10-5, to improve to 8-12 overall while the Thoroughbreds dropped to 4-18 on the season. Senior

Ella Stewart (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) was 4-for-7 with three RBI and two runs, and sophomore
Abigail Silliman (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia) went 3-for-8 with three RBI and scored three runs. Junior
Julia Serena (White Plains, N.Y./Valhalla) finished with five RBI and hit her 15th career home run to tie the program's career home run record set by Katie O'Gorman '17.
Game One: Oneonta 11, Skidmore 7

Delaney Haley (Levittown, N.Y./Division Avenue) scored the first run of the game on a ground out. Serena blasted her solo home run, her third of the season, over left-center field to go up 2-0. A pair of singles from junior
Sophia Mangone (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) and freshman
Emily Brown (Westbury, N.Y./Clarke) got runners on for Stewart who singled up the middle and scored Mangone. Silliman capped off the first inning rally with a double to left center and brought both Brown and Stewart home for a 5-0 lead.
Claire Stone recorded an RBI single in the second inning, while Caitlyn Dion hit an RBI double then an RBI single in the third to bring Skidmore with two, 5-3. Serena hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to score freshman
Rhianna Smith (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) then Stewart tripled in the fifth and later touched home on a passed ball to go ahead 7-3, however the Thoroughbreds tied it with four runs in the bottom half of the fifth.
Oneonta regained the lead for good in the top of the sixth inning on a fielder's choice that scored Fiori. The Red Dragons added three insurance runs in the seventh for the 11-7 final. Fiori finished the game 4-for-5 with three RBI and two stolen bases, Serena was 1-for-4 with three RBI, and Silliman went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Stewart finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and scored twice, while Brown and Mangone each recorded two hits and scored a run.

Cadence Brennan (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) (2-2) earned the win after pitching 1.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits. Sophomore
Anna Torgersen (Chester, NJ/Mendham) started the game, pitched 3.1 innings, struck out one and allowed three runs on seven hits. Junior
Angelina Scalere (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) (1) picked up the save after pitching the final 2.0 innings, striking out two, allowing only one hit.
Dion and Stone each finished 3-for-4 with two RBI. Natalie Mayne (2-2) received the loss after pitching 0.1 innings, allowing five runs, three earned, on five hits. Hailey Clarke pitched the final 6.2 innings, struck out two, and allowed six runs, four earned on 11 hits.
Game Two: Oneonta 10, Skidmore 5
Like game one, the Red Dragons tallied five runs in the first inning of game two. Fiori hit a one-out double and came home off a double to right center from Serena. After Mangone and Brown walked to load the bases, Stewart singled to right center to score Serena and Mangone. Silliman connected for an RBI single to left center that brought Brown home then sophomore
Jaime Cardello (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) worked a bases-loaded walk for the 5-0 lead.
Clarke got Skidmore on the board with an RBI double in the bottom of the second, however Oneonta kept their foot on the gas and added five more runs to their lead in the third and fourth innings. Sillman led off the third with a double then crossed home on a throwing error during senior
Aysia Oliver's (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) at-bat. Oliver reached safely on an infield single and scored on Fiori's single to right field. Mangone walked with the bases loaded to put the Red Dragons ahead 8-1 after three innings. Senior
Sarah Paige (Fort Ann, N.Y./Fort Ann Central) reached home from first base on a dropped fly ball in the fourth inning, and Serena hit a sacrifice fly that scored senior
Sara Cartier (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) for the final Oneonta run.
The Thoroughbreds recorded four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning with one out to make it 10-5. Scalere entered the game as the reliever and stuck out the final two batters of the fifth, struck out the side in the sixth, then fanned the final batter of the game to hold onto the win.
Brown (3-4) picked up the win pitching 4.1 innings, striking out nine, and allowing five runs on five hits. Scalere finished with six strikeouts and allowed two hits in 2.2 innings.
Fiori went 3-for-4 with an RBI, both Serena and Stewart each recorded a hit and two RBI. Silliman, Haley, and Cartier all finished with two hits, Silliman added an RBI and scored twice, while Haley and Cartier scored once.
Madi Gambino (0-5) was tagged with the loss after pitching 0.1 innings, allowing four runs on four hits. Bernie Berner went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Skidmore.
