Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Red Dragons Shutout Broncos, 9-0

DELHI, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta men's tennis team blanked SUNY Delhi, 9-0, Wednesday afternoon. The Red Dragons dropped seven games total in the match as they improved to 8-7 overall while the Broncos dropped to 3-3.  

Oneonta did not lose a game in doubles play and won each match, 8-0. Senior August LePique (New York, NY/Columbia) and sophomore William Schmid (Yonkers/Salesian HS) defeated Moises Saintil and Devin Guerrieri on the No. 1 court to go to 4-6 on the season as a pair. Freshmen Chris Chippari (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C Ketcham) and Brayden Stuart (Albertson, N.Y./Herricks HS / New Hyde Park) beat JT Maccarrone and Jack Madera on the No. 2 court to improve to 4-4 as a duo, and sophomore Nathaniel Inzerrilo (Center Moriches/Center Moriches) and freshman Zachary Blaakman (Penfield/Penfield High School) won their third straight match as a team against Moses Rojas and Maxwell Curtis on the No. 3 court.  

Schmid, Chippari, and Blaakman 6-0, 6-0 double-bageled their opponents in singles play. Schmid beat Benjamin Andersen on the No. 1 court to move to 3-0 on the No. 1 court and 7-5 overall in singles matches. Chippari took down Saintil on the No. 2 court and is now 10-4 this season and 3-0 on the No. 2 court. Blaakman defeated Maccarrone for his first win this season on the No. 4 court. Stuart walked away with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Guerrieri on the No. 3 court and has won seven of his last 10 singles matches. Sophomore Braden Greenberg (Northport, N.Y./Northport) upended Madera, 6-0, 6-2, on the No. 5 court to improve to 2-3 on the season, and Inzerrilo won his first singles match of the season versus Sarthak Thapa on the No. 6 court in straight 6-2 sets.  

The Red Dragons are back in action Saturday, April 13, for a match against Alfred University at 1 pm. Due to the chance of rain, the match will take place at SUNY Delhi.
