ONEONTA, N.Y. -- SUNY Oneonta senior August LePique (New York, NY/Columbia) and sophomore William Schmid (Yonkers/Salesian HS) swept the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week awards for March 11-17, announced by the WIAC Tuesday afternoon. LePique was named the conference's East Division singles player of the week while joining Schmid as the doubles team of the week.  

The No. 1 duo for the Red Dragons, LePique and Schmid led the team to a 2-0 overall week with a pair of wins. They defeated Nazareth's Chris Benedict and James Hawkins, 8-3, and were the lone Oneonta duo to win their match against Golden Flyers. The pairing then shutout Yeshiva's Mark Adler and Jacob Pfeifer, 8-0, in their 8-1 match win against the Maccabees.  

LePique went 2-0 on the No. 1 singles court. In their 5-4 comeback victory over Nazareth, LePique defeated Griffin Bond in straight 6-2 sets. He capped off the week with a dominant performance over Yeshiva's David Cattan, 6-1, 6-2. Schmid had a strong week for the Red Dragons, finishing 2-0 in singles play on the No. 2 court.  

Oneonta's (6-5) next match is Friday, March 22, at St. John Fisher at 4 pm.
