Box Score 3 ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta men's tennis team picked up a pair of wins over Nazareth and Yeshiva to go 2-1 in their spring break matches, this week. The Red Dragons fell to Hamilton, 9-0, before beating the Golden Flyers, 5-4, and the Maccabees, 8-1. Oneonta 0, Hamilton 9
Hamilton swept Oneonta in doubles and singles play. The No. 1 duo LePique and Schmid fell against Anson Anderson and Tarun Korwar, 8-3. In singles play, Schmid had the closest match, dropping to Anderson on the No. 2 court, 6-2, 6-4. Â
Oneonta 5, Nazareth 4
LePique and Schmid defeated James Hawkins and Chris Benedict on the No. 1 court, 8-3, as the Red Dragons went into singles play down 2-1. Oneonta won the top four courts to secure the comeback win over Nazareth. LePique won against Griffin Bond in straight 6-2 sets on the No. 1 court, while Schmid beat Dominic Vito on the No. 2 court, 6-1, 6-4. Chippari defeated Pierre Ntonga on the No. 3 court, 6-3, 6-4, and Stuart captured the No. 4 court over Hawkins in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.
Oneonta 8, Yeshiva 1
The Red Dragons started strong against the Maccabees and swept the doubles matches. LePique and Schmid bageled Mark Adler and Jacob Pfeifer on the No. 1 court. Chippari and Stuart took the No. 2 court over David Cattan and Leo Rahmey, 8-5, and freshman
Zachary Blaakman (Penfield/Penfield High School) and sophomore
Nathaniel Inzerrilo (Center Moriches/Center Moriches) defeated Israel Bussu and Ronen Rozenman in a set tiebreaker on the No. 3 court, 8-7 (7-3).
Oneonta continued their dominant play to take five of six singles matches. LePique won against Cattan on the No. 1 court, 6-1, 6-2. On the No. 2 court, Schmid dropped his first set against Pfeifer, 6-2, before he battled back to take set two in a tie break then won the third set tiebreaker to secure the match point, 2-6, 7-6 (9-7), 10-7. Chippari and Stuart defeated their singles opponents in straight 6-1 sets on the No. 3 and No. 4 courts, respectively, and sophomore
Braden Greenberg (Northport, N.Y./Northport) beat Max Funiciello on the No. 6 court, 6-2, 6-0.
