NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -Â The Oneonta men's swimming & diving team took on New Paltz for the final dual meet of the regular season, falling 116-86 to the Hawks on Saturday afternoon. In total, the Red Dragons won five events.Â
Junior Mason DeLisio (Kingston, NY/Kingston) won the 200- freestyle with a 1:45.84, five seconds quicker than the next finisher. Senior Eli Cohen (Schoharie, NY/East Lake (Fla)) took fifth at 1:53.61. Senior Ross Caimano (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) swam a 22.77 to win the 50-freestyle, and senior Daniel Oh (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) was third with a 23.50. Freshman Lukas Oathout (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) touched fourth at 25.18.Â
In the 400-IM, Andrew Capella (Glenville, NY/Burnt-Hills-Ballston Lake) placed second overall with a time of 4:43.17. Freshman Colin Ringwood () bested his seed time to take third in the 200-butterfly at 2:18.33, while junior Anthony Genovese (Seaford, NY/St. John the Baptist) earned third at 2:26.34.
DeLisio continued by winning the 100-freestyle at 48.16, while COhen took third with a 50.82. Oh finished fourth with a 51.74.Â
Junior James Llewellyn (Great River, NY/East Islip) won the 200-backstroke by swimming a 2:00.56. In the 500-freestyle, Capella was third with a 5:36.42, and sophomore David Butler (Port Kent, NY/Ausable Valley Central) was fourth at 5:42.02.Â
Sophomore Brendan Heaney (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks Central) swam a 2:30.95 to place third in the 200-breaststroke, while freshman Ethan Cairo () was fourth (2:34.21).Â
Oneonta wrapped up the meet by winning the 800-freestyle relay. The group of DeLisio, Cohen, Capella, and Llewellyn swam a 7:26.32.
Oneonta will next compete at the SUNYAC Championships on Wednesday. Feb. 21.Â
