BROCKPORT, N.Y. -Â Senior Aidan Kelly (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) won the heptathlon to highlight the Oneonta track & field team's fifth-place finish at the SUNYAC Championships on Saturday. The Dragons finished the day with four all-conference athletes and scored 57.33 points. Geneseo won the team title with 184.83 points.Â
Kelly won the heptathlon, scoring 4,530 points, and tied for third in the pole vault at 3.75 meters. He was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.14.Â
In the 60-meter hurdle finals, senior Alex Mavros (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington) placed fifth overall at 8.83. Junior Gabe Burns (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) ran a 4:23.71 in the mile to cross ninth overall.Â
Senior Chris Ganley (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) ran a 7.06 in the 60-meter dash finals to place fifth overall.Â
Oneonta had two finishers in the top four of the 800-meter race. Senior Jonthomas Bierman (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) earned All-SUNYAC Third Team honors after placing third at 1:56.47. Senior Luke Jarski (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) earned fourth with a 1:56.82.Â
Kelly also earned All-SUNYAC Third Team in the high jump at 1.85 meters. Freshman Jayden Tsoi (North White Plains, NY/Valhalla High School) placed eighth (1.75 meters).Â
Senior Vincent Zheng (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) took seventh in the shot put at 14.15 meters.Â
Oneonta next competes at the AARTFC Championships held in Rochester, NY on Fri. Mar. 1.Â
