ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Oneonta wrestling junior Avery Leonard (Milford, N.Y./Milford Central) and freshman Jackson Maby (Susquehanna, PA/Susquehanna Community) were named the SUNYAC's Men's Wrestler and Rookie Wrestler of the Week, respectively, for the second consecutive week the conference announced Monday afternoon. Leonard and Maby combined for seven victories with three pins and four tech falls between them and helped Oneonta win their first team title in the New York State Collegiate Championships.  

Leonard went 3-0 with three tech falls to win the 149 lb. open. He started the tournament with a 17-2 tech fall in 3:34 over Albany's Sean Romanski, then advanced to the first-place match with a 17-1 tech fall in 3:53 against Merchant Marine's Matthew Trinidad. Leonard faced Hofstra's (unattached) Dylan Zenion in the final and recorded four takedowns in the first period for a 19-3 tech fall in 4:32.

Maby recorded three falls, and a tech fall to go 4-0 in the 141 lb. freshman/sophomore class. He advanced to the final with three straight first-round pins against University of Albany's Klue Thaw (1:27), Ithaca's John Naparano (0:54), and Brockport's Dylan Nolan (2:25). The freshman faced Ithaca's William Bentrim in the first-place match, where Maby scored a takedown and a four-point nearfall in the first two periods then an escape in the third for a 15-0 tech fall at 5:08.

The Red Dragons are back in action on Saturday, December 7, for the RIT Invitational in Rochester at 9 am.
