Oneonta Picks Up Wins Over Delhi and Herkimer

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's swimming & diving team won 13 events in Wednesday's dual meet against Delhi and Herkimer. The Red Dragons defeated the Broncos 177-18 and downed the Generals 181-25.

Oneonta opened with a win in the 400-yard medley relay. Seniors Cadence Dudley (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), Anna McCall (Ligonier, PA/Ligonier Valley), sophomore Alexandria Bard (Schenectady, NY/Duanesburg), and freshman Alexis Gibson (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) swam a 4:37.91. The Red Dragons followed with sophomore Ashley Brousseau (Peru, NY/Peru Central) winning the 1,000-yard freestyle at 13:16.27. Oneonta swept the 200-yard freestyle. Gibson took first at 2:07.11, and senior Callie Stinson (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac) touched second at 2:15.37. Sophomore Alaska Lilliock (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) placed third at 2:17.25.

In the 100-yard backstroke, junior Allison LaBarbera (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) won at 1:09.91, while Bard finished second with a 1:13.27. Sophomore Veronica Coe (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) swam a 1:21.68 to place third.

Sophomore Raina Willie (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville Senior) touched second in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:26.68. McCall was the lone competitor in the 200-yard butterfly and posted a 2:46.37.

Oneonta went 1-2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle, and Stinson won at 27.71. Dudley placed second at 29.00, while senior Alyssa Thompson (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) placed third at 29.19.

Gibson continued with a first-place performance in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.38. Lilliock took second at 1:01.89, and Coe swam third with a 1:06.95.

Senior Lena Nakken (Islip, NY/Islip) touched first on the 200-yard backstroke at 2:25.91, while Thompson finished second at 2:39.17. In the 500-yard freestyle, Bard won at 6:09.72, and freshman Destiny Duckworth (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) finished second at 7:32.69.

LaBarbera went on to win the 200-yard IM at 2:31.90.

Oneonta concluded the day by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay. Bard, Gibson, Lilliock, and Stinson swam a 1:51.81.

Junior Macayla Hodkinson (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) took first in the one-meter dive with 212.60 points, while senior Paige Splendido (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) scored 163.05 to take second.

Oneonta next travels for the Electric City Invitational in Scranton, PA, on Fri. Nov. 22.
