HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta men's tennis team went on the road and defeated Houghton in non-conference play, 7-2, Tuesday afternoon. The Red Dragons improved to 2-1 on the season while the Highlanders started their season 0-1. Â

William Schmid (Yonkers/Salesian HS) defeated Graham Cook and Isaac Little, 8-6. Senior
Joshua Mann (East Greenbush/Columbia) and freshman
Chris Chippari (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C Ketcham) teamed up and beat Jonas Likens and Nolan Zach on the No. 2 court, 8-1, and sophomores
Braden Greenberg (Northport, N.Y./Northport) and sophomore
Nathaniel Inzerrilo (Center Moriches/Center Moriches) came out on top on the No. 3 court over Preston Tobalski and Caleb Hilsher, 8-3. Â
The Red Dragons carried their strong play into the singles matches and won four of six. LePique had a clean performance on the No. 1 court, defeating Little, 6-0, 6-0. Schmid took court two over Cook, 6-0, 6-1, while Chippari beat Zach in straight sets on the No. 3 court, 6-1, 6-2. Blaakman won the final match for Oneonta on the No. 5 court against Likens, 6-0, 6-4. Â
Some of the Red Dragons return to action on Saturday, September 29, for the ITA Regionals at Drew University.Â
