Oneonta Wraps Up Second Day of AARTFC Championships

SELINSGROVE, PA - The Oneonta men's and women's track & field teams concluded the AARTFC Championships at Susquehanna University on Thursday. The men's team placed 16th with 19.5 points, while the women were 18th with 15 points. 

Junior Aidan Kelly wrapped up the decathlon with 5,429 points to place sixth overall. Kelly had three top-five performances, was second in the discus at a personal record of 29.99, and third in the pole vault with a clear of 3.60 meters. Kelly took third in the javelin at 41.19 meters. 

Freshman Alex Ordonez placed seventh in the men's high jump at 1.91 meters.

Junior Olivia O'Donnell (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) ran a personal best of 4:52.04 to finish 19th overall in the women's 1,500-meter race. Soon after, junior Jonthomas Bierman also ran a personal best of 3:56.97 to take tenth in the men's 1,500.

Junior Ella DePhillips (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) crossed 14th in the women's 800-meter at 2:19.12. Junior Luke Jarski ran a program record of 1:51.91 to finish fourth overall in the men's 800

In the women's shot put, junior Isabella Fabrizio (Highland Mills, NY/Cornwall) earned second place with a throw of 13.48 meters. Junior Emelene Burek (Cohoes, NY/Shaker) placed seventh for Oneonta at 12.67 meters. Jason Briscoe placed 21st in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 48.27 meters. Senior Hannah Jackson (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) threw 45.94 meters to place 12th in the women's hammer throw. 

Oneonta now waits to see which athletes qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships on May 25. Fabrizio is currently ranked 21st in the shot put (13.61 meters), while Bierman is 19th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:03.87).
