SELINSGROVE, PA -Â The Oneonta men's and women's track & field teams opened the two-day AARTFC Outdoor Championships at Susquehanna University on Wednesday afternoon. Junior Jonthomas Bierman highlighted the day by winning the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase in a program record time of 9:03.87.Â
In the decathlon, junior Aidain Kelly is ranked sixth with 2,976 points. Kelly took seventh in the long jump at 5.97 meters and was eighth in the shot put with a throw of 9.97 meters. Kelly won the high jump by clearing 1.87.Â
Junior Ejim Nnate (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) took tenth in the women's 100-meter hurdles at 15.07.
Bierman led the steeplechase from the start and took a second off his personal record to win the event for all-region honors.
Junior Megan Francoeur (New Lebanon, NY/Pittsfield (MA)) took fourth overall in the women's 10,000-meter race with a time of 37.22.26.
Freshman Sawyer Eckberg recorded a 15th-place finish in the men's discus with a mark of 42.45 meters, and freshman Cliff Biehl was 16th in the men's javelin at 48.65 meters.
Oneonta concludes the AARTFC Championships on Thur. May 18 at 10 a.m.
