DELHI, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta men's tennis team capped off their conference season, and their final game in the NJAC, defeating Ramapo College, 6-3, Tuesday afternoon. The Red Dragons third straight win improved them to 7-10 on the season as they finish NJAC play 2-2 overall for a third-place finish in the East Division. The Roadrunners fell to 7-7 on the season and 0-3 in conference play. Â
Oneonta took two of the three doubles matches. Senior
August LePique (New York, NY/Columbia) and freshman
William Schmid (Yonkers/Salesian HS) secured their fourth straight win as a team, defeating Alejandro Pacheco and Matthew Doran on the No. 2 court, 8-3. Junior
Joshua Mann (East Greenbush/Columbia) and sophomore
Noah Khair (New Delhi, INDIA/National Institute of Open Schooling) gave the Red Dragons a 2-1 match lead with an 8-3 win on the No. 3 court over Bobby Ciarletta and Nate Cooper. Â
Mann and Khair carried their success into singles play and again defeated Cooper and Ciarletta. Mann grabbed his fourth straight singles victory on the No. 6 court beating Cooper, 6-0, 6-4. On the No. 5 court, Khair defeated Ciarletta in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Â
LePique and senior
Jacob Dornsife (Wilmington, DE/Mt. Pleasant) were the other two Red Dragons to win their singles matches, each of them recorded a bagel set victory. LePique defeated Doran on the No. 3 court 6-0, 6-1, and Dornsife defeated Pacheco on the No. 4 court 6-3, 6-0. Â
Oneonta is back in action Thursday for a home match against Union at 4 pm.Â
