LEWISBURG, PA -Â Junior Jonthomas Bierman set an Oneonta program record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the highly competitive Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic this weekend. The Red Dragons competed against Division I, II, and III teams in the two-day meet.Â
Oneonta began on Saturday with the women's 1,500-meter race, where junior Ella DePhillips (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) set a personal record of 4:51.60 for 29th overall. Junior Olivia O'Donnell (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) posted a personal best of 4:54.14 to finish 43rd overall.Â
Bierman placed sixth out of 59 runners in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase in a program record time of 9:04.85. The time was two seconds faster than the record set in 2012 by Chris Harvey.
In the women's 10,000-meter race, junior Megan Francoeur (New Lebanon, NY/Pittsfield (MA)) beat her personal by over a minute with a time of 36:34.16 to place 17th overall.Â
Junior Cliff Biehl threw 46.48 meters in the men's javelin to take 34th place.
Freshman Sawyer Eckberg placed 27th overall in the men's discus with a personal record of 41.05 meters.Â
On Sunday, junior Emily Rudolph (Stillwater, NY/Webb UFSD) ran an 11:01.00 to finish 38th in the women's 3,000-meter race. DePhillips ran a 2:19.84 in the 800-meter race, while junior Luke Jarski was 27th in the men's race at 1:53.17.
Junior Ejim Nnate (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) crossed at 15.24 in the women's 100-meter hurdles to earn a 21st-place finish. Nnate scored 13.13 in the 100-meter, while D. Jackson finished 13.17. The two also competed in the 200-meter, with Jackson placing 80th at 26.87 and Nnate at 27.14 for 90th.Â
In the women's hammer throw, senior Hannah Jackson (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) hit a mark of 45.22 to place 19th overall. Senior Miles Moliterni hit a personal record of 53.16 meters in the men's event, which placed him 11th overall. Junior Isabella Fabrizio (Highland Mills, NY/Cornwall) took sixth in the shot put at an outdoor school record mark of 13.57 meters.
Oneonta next competes at the Cortland Classic on Fri. Apr. 21 at 2 p.m.
