ITHACA, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta men's tennis team dropped their road match against Ithaca, 8-1, Sunday afternoon. The Red Dragons now sit at 3-7 overall while the Bombers moved to 5-5 on the season. Â
Senior
Mason Spottek (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) earned the lone match point for Oneonta in the No. 2 singles match. After Spottek recorded a dominant 6-2 first set to Jimin Woo, Woo kept the second set closer, but Spottek came out on top, 7-6, for a straight set win. Â
In the No. 4 singles match, sophomore
Noah Khair (New Delhi, INDIA/National Institute of Open Schooling) forced a super tiebreaker with a 6-3 second set win after falling 6-3 in the first set against Jacob Wachs. Wachs took the tiebreaker over Khair, 10-4. Â
In the doubles matches, senior
August LePique (New York, NY/Columbia) and freshman
William Schmid (Yonkers/Salesian HS) kept their match the closest against the Bombers, but came up short against Ean Lantzy and Wachs, 8-5. Â
The Red Dragons are back in action Friday when they host Rutgers-Camden at 3 pm.
