MIDDLETOWN, CT – The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team recorded two wins over Wesleyan University and Williams College in a quad meet held at Wesleyan, Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons beat the Cardinals 27-20 and the Ephs, 31-18, while they fell to Ithaca, 13-31. Senior
Michael Blando (Massapequa/Massapequa) and freshman
Jack Ryan (Trumbull, CT) each went 3-0 on the day. Ryan finished with two pins at 184 lbs., while Blando finished with one at 141 lbs. Â
After winning by forfeit against Ithaca, Blando pinned Wesleyan's Max Martinez at 2:03 then beat William's Donnie Morton in an 11-2 major decision. Ryan defeated Bombers Joesph Averill in a 10-2 major decision before picking his pair of pins. He recorded a 4:50 fall against Cardinals Aris Dashiell followed by a 1:19 pin against Ephs Max Hall.

Jacob Pine (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls) (285 lbs.),
Anthony Romero (Spring Valley/Ramapo) (133 lbs.), and sophomore
Danny Poggi (West Islip/West Islip) (125 lbs.) each recorded two victories on the day. Â
As a team, the Red Dragons were up 21-20 against Wesleyan heading into the final match where Pine secured the win with a 3:58 pin against Kolton Gagnon. Versus Williams, Pine faced Wyatt Moyer and recorded a 1:16 fall. Romero posted a 4:05 pin against Cardinals Terri Brannigan before he defeated Ephs Lucas Johnson in an 18-1 tech fall. Poggi beat Ithaca's Francisco Muriel in a 5-0 decision, then Wesleyan's Greg Fischer by a 4-3 decision. Â

Adonis Morano () picked up a 2:12 pin victory over Williams Jack Murphy at 165 lbs. and junior
Kenneth Sauer (Franklin/Franklin) defeated the Ephs Eamon Garrity-Rokous by major decision, 10-0, at 174 lbs.
The Red Dragons are back in action Wednesday for their first home match of the 2022-23 season against Oswego State at 7 pm.Â
