Red Dragons Stand at Fifth After Second Day of SUNYAC Championships

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's swimming & diving team sits in fifth place after Thursday's second day of the SUNYAC Championships. After the day, the Red Dragons have 119 points, while Geneseo stands in first with 327 points.

The third session began with the women's 500-freestyle, and junior Sophia Olson (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) reached the finals after swimming a personal best of 5:30.35 in the prelims. She placed eighth overall in the finals at 5:33.50. In the women's 200-IM, junior Claire Armstrong (Woodbury, NY/Monroe Woodbury) finished at 2:25.00. She then improved her time to 2:22.23 in the finals to earn an 11th-place finish. Junior Emma Stephenson (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) took 12th with a mark of 2:23.69 in the preliminaries and a finals time of 2:22.64.

The women's 200-freestyle relay of senior Kayla Keddy (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), sophomore Callie Stinson (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac), and freshmen Jessica Shaw (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) and Allison LaBarbera (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) recorded their fasted time of the season at 1:45.00 for seventh place.

The third day and sixth session of the championships begin on Fri. Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. with the 400-IM prelims.
