ONEONTA, N.Y. -Â The Oneonta women's soccer fell 2-0 to Oswego on Saturday afternoon after struggling to find its offensive rhythm. The Red Dragons now fall to 4-3-3 overall and 1-3-1 in the SUNYAC, while the Lakers move to 5-2-4 and 2-1-2 in the conference.Â
Rainy weather slowed down the ball for both sides in the first half. Oswego's Amber McDermott took the first shot at 2:26, but Oneonta goalkeeper Bryanna Meehan (Roxbury, NY/Roxbury Central) was there for the stop. Courtney Key followed with a shot in the 12th minute that sailed high. The Red Dragons mustered their first attempt at 38:24 from junior Kayla Schwizer (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) that Oswego goalie Perri Anderson saved. Oneonta took one final shot on goal from freshman Keira Dashnow (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa), which the Lakers' goalkeeper also stopped.Â
The second half mirrored the first until the 75th minute when Oswego got on the board. McDermott crossed the ball to Katie Delgrosso, who found the back of the net. The Lakers scored again when Sara Marinaro collected a rebound shot to put Oswego ahead 2-0 in the 81st minute.Â
Meehan finished the game with six saves, while Anderson had two.Â
