Oneonta Continues Season at Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. -  The Oneonta women's swimming and diving team continued dual meet action against Brockport on Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons fell 157-83 to the Golden Eagles with solid individual performances.

The 200-freestyle medley relay of senior Claire Armstrong (Woodbury, NY/Monroe Woodbury) and juniors Cadence Dudley (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), Anna McCall (Ligonier, PA/Ligonier Valley), and Callie Stinson (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac) placed third with a time of 2:03.50. 

In the 1,000-freestyle, junior Lena Nakken (Islip, NY/Islip) placed first overall at 12:07.93, 19 seconds faster than the second-place finisher from Brockport.  

Oneonta grabbed first in the 200-freestyle when senior Sophia Olson (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) won at 2:10.47. Sophomore Jessica Shaw (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) took fourth by swimming 2:13.53. Sophomore Allison LaBarbera (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) took third in the 50-freestyle at 27.20. 

Armstrong and senior Emma Stephenson (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) placed second and third, respectively, in the 200-IM. Armstrong touched at 2:30.77, and Stephenson swam at 2:31.96. 

McCall tallied a second-place finish in the 100-butterfly with a time of 1:07.51.

Olson went on to place second in the 500-freestyle at 5:55.03. In the 100-breaststroke, Dudley finished second at 1:16.49, and Stephenson was third at 1:18.73. 

Oneonta concluded the day by winning the 200-freestyle relay. Nakken, LaBarbera, freshman Alaska Lilliock (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy), and Olson recorded a 1:50.95.

The Red Dragons next compete against Saint Rose and RPI in Troy, NY, on Sun. Nov. 5 at 1 p.m.
