COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team opened the 2023 portion of their season at Ursinus College for the Manganaro Duals, Saturday. Multiple Red Dragons recorded two wins on the day including seniors
Jacob Pine (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls),
Anthony Romero (Spring Valley/Ramapo), juniors
Max Yahre (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview JFK),
Adonis Morano (), sophomore
Danny Poggi (West Islip/West Islip), and freshman
Jack Ryan (Trumbull, CT). As a team, the Red Dragons were defeated in four dual matches. Â
In their first match against Southern Maine, Romero defeated Ethan Ford in the 133 match in a 7-3 decision. At 174, Morano pinned AJ Robinson in 6:03, and Ryan beat Henri Kuntz in the 184 match via a 1:11 fall.
Against Trinity College, Poggi won via pin in 2:33 in the 125-weight class while Ryan won a 5-2 decision against Marco Bragado in 184. Pine (285) finished the dual against the Bantams with a 45 second pin over Lachlan Berry.
Poggi (125) started the Red Dragons dual against Ursinus with a 3-1 decision victory against Franco Mazza. Romero (133) then pinned Michael Adams in 2:51, and senior
Michael Blando (Massapequa/Massapequa) won at 141 via fall in 4:16 against Wesle Tosto. In the 157 match, Yahre recorded his first victory as a Red Dragon with an 8-3 decision over Derek Giordano.
In his next match against Johnson and Wales, Yahre defeated Gabriel Case in a 5-3 decision. Morano pinned Wildcats' Dominic Pugliese in 6:09 while senior
Kevin Jorgensen (Bohemia/Connetquot) won an 8-5 decision over Ky`ll Roper. Pine ended the day with a 1:45 fall victory against Nathan Ickes. Â
The Red Dragons are back in action Saturday when they travel back to Ursinus College for the Will Abele Invitational.Â
