WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team picked up a pair of victories at the John Reese Duals at Wilkes University, Sunday afternoon. Seniors Michael Blando (Massapequa/Massapequa), Anthony Romero (Spring Valley/Ramapo), junior Kenneth Sauer (Franklin/Franklin), and freshman Jack Ryan (Trumbull, CT) each recorded two wins on the day. As a team, the Red Dragons (4-8) defeated Wilkes, 22-21, Muhlenberg, 30-17, and fell to Springfield 47-3.  

In their dual against Wilkes, Romero recorded an 18-7 major decision win over Sam Kimmel at 133 lbs., then Blando followed up with a 50 second pin at 141 lbs. Junior Max Yahre (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview JFK) and Sauer each recorded decision victories at 157 lbs. and 174 lbs., respectively. Ryan secured the final Red Dragon victory over the Colonels with a 1:09 pin against John Devito at 184 lbs.  

Against Muhlenberg, Blando, sophomore Nicholas Sergi (Northport/Northport), and senior Jacob Pine (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls) each recorded a pin victory in their respected matches. At 141 lbs., Blando had a 3:42 pin against Chris Dalmau, Sergi recorded his fall win at 5:32 against Ronnie Grevera at 165 lbs., and in the heavyweight class, Pine pinned Ben Krauss in 2:30. Romero, Sauer, and sophomore Anthony Klosner all picked up wins via major decision.  

In the Red Dragons match against Springfield, Ryan won a 7-1 decision in the 184 bout against Casey Allen.  

Oneonta is back in action Saturday at Middletown, CT for the Wesleyan Quad meet.
