ROCHESTER, N.Y. --Â The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team had 10 wrestlers earn All-State honors at the New York State Intercollegiate Open at RIT, Saturday. Junior
Max Yahre (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview JFK) won the 157 lb. White division with a 3-0 decision victory over Cortland's Michael Barker. Â

Yahre's first match was a forfeit victory against Oswego State's Damani Johnson. He then won a sudden victory in the first overtime with a takedown against Justin Smith from Alfred State, setting himself up against Ithaca's Joe Averill. Yahre was down 3-1 entering the final period versus Averill until he scored an escape, a takedown, and a point for riding time for a 5-3 decision victory to advance to the first-place match. In the final against Barker, they were deadlocked entering the final two minutes until Yahre scored a two-point nearfall then earned riding time for the 3-0 decision win.Â
Poggi finished in fifth place in the 125 lb. White division. After suffering a setback in the first round, he won 17-2 tech fall with five takedowns against Niagara County Community College's (NVCC) Joshua Gill. Poggi then won a 5-0 decision against RITs Aiden Prunoske and a 9-0 majority decision against Christian Lievano SUNY Cortland. After falling to Alfred State's Mason Drew, Poggi pinned Cortland's Justin Amendola at 6:59 in the fifth-place match.
Farley competed in the 125 lb. Black division. He entered the consolation side of the bracket after the first round. On his way to a six-place finish, Farley won an 8-4 decision over RIT's John Freebern with three escapes and a four-point nearfall.Â
Sacco placed fourth in 133 lb. White division. He won against Timothy Routon from Merchant Marine Academy with a 1:37 fall. Sacco then won a 19-4 majority decision over Oswego State's Joey Ribitzki, with 10 points coming from nearfalls. He moved to the consolation side after a 9-1 majority decision against Alfred State's Elijah Moshenek. Sacco moved on to the third-place match after a 2:13 pin against Hunter College's Naman Basin. In the third-place match, he lost a 10-6 decision to Isaiah Shafer. Â
Romero placed sixth in 133 lb. Black division. He won an 8-4 decision against RIT's Lee Rubin then a tough 3-2 decision against Army West Point's Jake Staud. Down 1-0 in the third period versus Staud, Romero recorded an escape and a takedown to move on. After a 2-0 decision defeat to Army's Joe Couch, Romero to medically forfeit his next two matches, including the fifth-place match. Â
Sauer finished third in the 174 lb. White division. He won his first match with a 6-0 decision against Ithaca's Anthony Giovagnoli. Sauer then went to the consolation side after a 14-5 majority decision loss to University of Buffalo's Dylan Schell. A four-takedown, 10-2 majority decision victory over RIT's Mike Patti advanced Sauer to the third-place match, where he won via a 1:54 fall against RIT's Tyler Balent. Â
Morano placed fifth in the 174 lb. White division. After he won a 6-3 decision against John Layfield from Alfred State, Morano recorded a five-takedown, 13-4 majority decision win over RIT's Mike Patti. He was pinned in 2:31 the following match by Binghamton Wrestling Club's Will Ebert, the eventual winner of the division. After a 1:01 fall defeat against Balent, Morano won a 6-2 decision in the fifth-place match against Patti.
Aliani took sixth place in the 184 lb. White division. He got his first win on the consolation side in a 6-5 decision over Jamestown Community College's Alex Christy. Aliani was down 4-1 after the first period before he scored a takedown in the second period, then an escape and another takedown in the final period. Aliani went into the fifth-place match where he was defeated in a 4:15 fall to NVCC's Joel Nivar. Â
Kennedy finished fourth place in the 197 lb. White division. Kennedy went to the consolation bracket, after a 2:42 fall against Niagara Falls Braydon Vandenberg, where he won his next three matches with two pins. He beat Nassau Community College's Matt Clarkson in an 11-4 decision before pinning Cortland's Karam Saraireh in 1:25 and Keaton Renfrew from Alfred State in 2:07, advancing to the third-place match. In the third-place match, Kennedy lost a 4-0 decision to Merchant Marine Academy's Zachery Fultz. Â
Pine took fifth in the 285 lb. Black division. He suffered a 5-0 decision loss in his first match against USMAPS (Army Prep) Lucas Stoddard. Pine then won a 6-1 decision with three takedowns against Ithaca's Jeremy Mazzella and pinned Alfred State's Nick Barrett in 4:31. A 6-0 decision defeat put Pine in the fifth-place match where he won a 6-0 decision against Brockport's Nick Franco. Â
