Red Dragons Compete at Utica Winter Open

UTICA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's track & field teams competed in its second meet of the season at Saturday's Utica Winter Open. The Red Dragons placed ninth of 14 teams and had solid individual performances in the early season tune-up. 

Sophomore Danielle Jackson (Bronx, NY/Central Park East) was the top Red Dragon in the 60-meter sprint, placing ninth in the prelims at 8.47. First-year Margaret Petty was 12th with a time of 8.55. Junior Ejim Nnate (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) won her heat and the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a 9.35 in the prelims and a 9.28 in the finals. She also recorded an AARTFC qualifying time. Senior Josephine Alliano (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) ran a personal best of 10.03 in the preliminaries and a 10.63 in the finals for eighth place. 

In the mile race, junior Sierra Basco (Albany, NY/Shaker) crossed at 6:36.83 for 33rd overall. 

Jackson finished ninth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.04, and junior Taylor Johnson (White Plains, NY/White Plains) was 22nd at 29.05. Petty crossed the line with a personal best of 29.22. 

Oneonta had a loaded field in the 3,000 meters, and junior Emily Rudolph (Stillwater, NY/Webb UFSD) led the way with a personal record of 11:24.00 to place 12th overall. Junior Olivia O'Donnell (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) took 14th with a personal best of 11:38.05, and junior Ella DePhillips (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) was 15th with a career-best 11:41.62. First-year Eva Woodworth () made her collegiate debut with an 11:58.16 for 19th. 

The Red Dragons' 4x200 relay of Jackson, Nnate, Petty, and Johnson finished fourth in a time of 1:54.82.

Alliano jumped a personal best of 1.37 meters in the high jump to finish 12th. 

In the throwing events, junior Isabella Fabrizio (Highland Mills, NY/Cornwall) tied for first in the shot put with a mark of 12.85 meters. She then recorded a personal best of 13.79 meters in the weight throw to take sixth overall. Sophomore Teghan Garris (Dryden, NY/Dryden) was fourth in the shot put at 11.34 meters, while junior Emelene Burek () was fifth at 11.06 meters. Senior Kate Bellman (Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock Township) took ninth at 10.51 meters. 

Senior Hannah Jackson (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) placed tenth in the weight throw with a mark of 12.07 meters, while senior Christina Groleau (Staten Island/Susan E. Wagner) was 14th at 12.22 meters. 

Oneonta next competes at the Ithaca Quad Meet on Sat. Jan. 21 at 11 a.m.
