Oneonta, NY - The wary group of men's tennis players after a long weekend trip in Wisconsin came back looking for wins to close out their season. Today's opponent the SUNY Oswego Lakers were the victims of the Red Dragon onslaught.
Doubles recorded a big win in the first spot as senior
Riley Smith (Westhampton Beach/Westhampton Beach) playing his final home match of his career and junior
Mason Spottek (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) got off to a slow start but then pulled away to secure an all-important victory 8-2. That coupled with a forfeit on Court three by the Lakers insured a 2-1 advantage going into singles competition.
The singles was really no contest as the Red Dragons closed out their home season with five wins. Junior August Lepique was no match for his Lakers opponent losing only one-game on route to a victory 6-0, 6-1. Spottek in the second flight had to hit a lot of balls to break down his opponent who was stubborn but Oneonta prevailed in a straight set win 6-2, 6-3. Junior
Jacob Dornsife (Wilmington, DE/Mt. Pleasant) had little difficulty dismantling his third singles opponent also in straight sets 6-2, 6-0. Sophomore
Joshua Mann (East Greenbush/Columbia) was locked in a tight first set but came through 6-4 and then cruised in the second set 6-1 in the fourth spot today. Finally sophomore
