A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta baseball team dropped both games of a conference doubleheader against Oswego Friday afternoon. After losing 8-0 and 7-1, the Red Dragons fell to 7-19 on the season and 1-9 in SUNYAC and the Lakers improved to 18-6 overall and 8-0 in conference.
The Inside Story
Game One – Oswego 8, Oneonta 0
Oswego jumped out to a four-run lead after the first inning, scoring on three balls all hit to left field. Ryan Enos extended the lead to five with a home run in the fifth, and the Lakers tallied three more in the sixth with a two-RBI double from Paul Tammaro, and a sacrifice fly from Enos.
Junior
Jake Barrett (Hauppauge/St. Anthony's) was the only Red Dragon to record a hit. Senior
Joe Ottaviano (Nanuet/Albertus Magnus) received the loss after pitching 5.1 innings, allowing seven earned runs, and striking out four. Â
Jacob Sanders received the win after pitching 5.1 innings, allowing one hit, and striking out six.Â
Game Two – Oswego 7, Oneonta 1
Oneonta got on the board first in game two. Barrett led the inning off with a hard-hit single to third and made it to second on senior
Michael Sabatine's (Fairport/Fairport) sacrifice bunt. Barrett made it home while the Laker second baseman mishandled junior
Anthony Gonzalez's (Carmel/Carmel) hit. Â
The Red Dragons held on to the lead for a few innings with sophomore
Michael Sadowski (Queens/Queens Metropolitan) dealing on the mound. After allowing a lead-off triple, Sadowski recorded the first seven outs via strikeout. Â
In the top of the fifth, the Lakers took the lead with a two-run home run by Tammaro. Â
Oswego put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh, when they scored five runs off four hits. Â
Barrett finished game two 3-for-4 with a run scored, junior
Liam Kaseta (Somers/Somers) went 2-for-3, and Sabatine finished 1-for-3. Sadowski pitched 6.0+ innings, allowed three runs off five hits, and struck out a collegiate-high 11.
Kieran Finnegan pitched the complete game for Oswego, allowed six hits, one run, and struck out two. Â

The Red Dragons will finish the series against the Lakers tomorrow at 10 am at Red Dragon Baseball Field.
