ITHACA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's indoor track and field team opened the 2022-23 season at Saturday's Greg Page Relays hosted by Cornell. The Red Dragons faced many Division I, II, and III schools, with the sprinters, throwers, and jumpers getting their first chance to compete this winter.Â
The Red Dragons first competed in the 60-meter dash. Junior Ejim Nnate (Port Jefferson Station/Comsewogue) opened with a personal record of 8.36 to place 35th overall. Sophomore Daniell Jackson took 39th in a time of 8.43. First-year Maragaret Petty ran an 8.54 in her collegiate debut, while junior Taylor Johnson (White Plains/White Plains) crossed at a personal best of 8.63.Â
Jackson finished 37th in the 300-meters at a time of 45.29, while Johnson tallied another personal record at 45.61 for 41st overall. Sophomore Sage Douglas ran a career-best of 49.16.
In the 60-meter hurdles, Nnate was the top Red Dragon. She went on to place 10th in a time of 9.36. Douglas was 21st in a personal best of 10.31.
Junior Isabella Fabrizio (Highland Mills/Cornwall) took second and was the highest Division III finisher in the shot put with a mark of 12.80 meters. Junior Emelene Burek placed fifth with a throw of 11.81 meters, and sophomore Teghan Garris (Dryden/Dryden) threw 10.93 meters for ninth place.Â
Fabrizio went on to take ninth in the weight throw with a toss of 13.20 meters. Jackson was 12th at 12.96 meters, and Christina Groleau (Staten Island/Susan E. Wagner) took 15h with a mark of 12.29 meters.
The Red Dragons next compete at the Utica Winter Open on Sat. Jan. 14 at 11 a.m.
