Oneonta Women's Swimming & Diving Record Strong Performances Against Brockport

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's swimming and diving team hosted Brockport in its home opener on Saturday afternoon, falling 177-120 to the Golden Eagles. 

The Red Dragons opened with the 200-yard medley relay of Kayla Keddy (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), Cadence Dudley (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), Callie Stinson (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac), and Sophia Olson (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville), placing second at 2:00.74. Sophomore Lena Nakken (Islip, NY/Islip) then took second in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing at 12:09.43. Junior Emma Stephenson (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) posted a 12:43.62 for fourth, while sophomore Anna McCall (Ligonier, PA/Ligonier Valley) placed fifth at 13:51.00.

Olson led the Red Dragons with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, swimming a 2:07.25. Keddy and Jessica Shaw (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) went second and third in the 100-yard backstroke. Keddy swam a 1:04.64, while Shaw finished at 1:08.34. Dudley took third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:16.54, while Stinson was second in the 50-yard freestyle at 27.31. First-year Emily Kendrick (Middletown, NY/Goshen Central) was close behind at 27.32 for third place. 

Keddy took second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 59.00, while Kendrick posted a 59.61 for third overall. In the 200-yard backstroke, junior Emily Trumino was second at 2:28.33. Junior Claire Armstrong (Woodbury, NY/Monroe Woodbury) went third at 2:29.15. 

Junior Emma Stephenson (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) won the 200-yard backstroke by swimming a 2:47.67. Olson was second in the 500-yard freestyle and finished at 5:42.25. Stinson was the top Red Dragon in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:08.22. Armstrong then swam a 2:29.24 to take second in the 200-yard IM. 

Oneonta wrapped up with a 200-yard freestyle, and Keddy, Stinson, Kendrick, and Olson placed second at 1:48.86.

Oneonta recorded strong diving performances as first-year Macayla Hodkinson (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) won the three-meter dive with 141.45 points. Sophomore Margaret Nolan (North Bellmore, NY/Mepham) made her collegiate debut, scoring 130.90 points for third. Sophomore Paige Splendido (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) finished fourth with 118.70 points. Hodkinson won again in the one-meter dive, scoring 193.05.  

The Red Dragons are back in action on Sun. Nov. 6 to face RPI and Saint Rose in Troy, NY at 1 p.m.
