SCRANTON, PA – The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team traveled yesterday to compete in the Electric City Duals hosted at Scranton College. The Red Dragons finished the day 2-3 as a team with victories over Rowan and Keystone. The Red Dragons victories were one-sided as they beat the Profs 51-0 and the Giants 54-6. Oneonta's losses came to Alfred State, 28-10, and in a couple close matches to New Jersey City, 27-29, and Scranton 19-21.
Seniors
Anthony Romero (Spring Valley/Ramapo),
Jacob Pine (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls), freshman
Jack Ryan (Trumbull, CT) and junior
Santos Ocasio (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) all finished the day with multiple wins and did not drop a match.
Pine won all four matches at heavyweight with two pins. He won a major decision against Hunter Marhan from Scranton, 9-1 and a decision against Alfred State's Evan Albrecht, 3-0. Pine ended the day pinning Keystone's Brendan Hamilton in 1:23 and Deren Cercioglu from New Jersey City in 2:53.
Romero, at 133, recorded two pins, a tech fall, and a forfeit victory. He beat Scranton's Matthew DiGennaro via tech fall, 22-7. Romero's two pins were against Rowan's Jacob McDonald and New Jersey City's Anthony Monetti in 6:15.
At 184, Ryan had victories via pin and tech fall, and a forfeit win. Ryan pinned New Jersey City's Farhan Khan in 4:10 and had a 17-1 tech fall win against Ryan Bihasa-Lenahan from Scranton.
Junior
Santos Ocasio (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) pinned both of his opponents on the day. Ocasio, at 141, wrestled and pinned Rowan's Eddie Totten and Keystone's Michael Palinkas in 1:04.

Diego Orellana (Ossining/Ossining) took 10 seconds to pin Bobby Meister in the heavyweight matchup.
In the 54-6 Keystone victory, senior
Michael Blando (Massapequa/Massapequa) competed against Justin Santiago at 149 and pinned him in 45 seconds. Freshman
Jonathan Zenny (Valley Stream, NY/G.W. Hewlett) (157) won via fall at 5:44 against Mariano Monacelli and sophomore
Nicholas Sergi (Northport/Northport) pinned Codi Bomboy in the 165 match up in 4:09.

Danny Poggi (West Islip/West Islip) (125), senior
Greg Brach (Bellmore/Belmore JFK) (141), and junior
Noah Kennedy (Greene/Greene) (197) each recorded a couple victories on the day. In their matches against Scranton, Brach won a 7-5 decision against Shkeb Nadir and Kennedy won a 7-2 decision against Jose Falcon. Against Rowan, Poggi won a close 6-5 decision versus Shamar Baines while Kennedy won a 6-0 decision against Tion Cherry. Poggi picked up another decision victory, 10-2, against Alfred State's Mason Drew and Brach got his second win on a 7-4 decision against New Jersey City's Andy Beras.
The Red Dragons are back in action Saturday when they head to Oswego for the ECWC Championships starting at 10 am.
