Box Score BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis team defeated Brockport 7-2 on the second day of SUNYAC play at the Binghamton Tennis Center. The win is the sixth in a row for the Red Dragons as they improve to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the SUNYAC while the Golden Eagles fall to 2-7 in the season and 2-4 in the conference. Â
Although Oneonta ran with a different lineup the outcome was identical. Senior
Maxie Karen (New York, NY/The Clinton School) paired up with freshman
Danielle Copp (Marcellus/Marcellus) on the No. 2 court and won 8-5 over Emma Lissow and Lena Paolicelli, and junior
Madelyn Brophy (Greenwich/Greenwich Central) and senior
Jessica Harris (Cobleskill/Academy of Holy Names) teamed up for an 8-4 victory on the No. 3 court. Juniors
Brianna Shaw (Staten Island/Curtis) and
Sophia Schutte (Great Neck/Great Neck) had their work cut out for them on the No. 1 court and came up short in the tiebreaker set, 7-8 (3-7). Â
The Red Dragons kept on rolling and took five of the singles matches. Shaw got redemption against Olivia Raschiatore on the No. 2 court with a 6-4, 6-2 victory. Karen, Brophy and Copp each won their singles matches in straight sets with a first set bagel. Karen won court three, 6-0, 6-1, Brophy took court five 6-0, 6-2, and Copp secured court six 6-0, 6-1. Harris defeated Lissow on the No. 4 court 6-3, 6-4. Â
The Red Dragons go to the Binghamton Tennis Center one more time tomorrow for a match against Geneseo at 12 pm.
