ONEONTA, N.Y. - After both sides traded sets, Oswego came out with the five-set victory over Oneonta on Saturday afternoon in Dewar Arena. The Red Dragons fell 25-21 in the first set but took the second 25-19. The Lakers won 25-18 before Oneonta (10-13, 2-7 SUNYAC) claimed the fourth 25-22. Oswego (17-9, 5-4 SUNYAC) finished with a 15-11 fifth-set victory. 
The Red Dragons fell behind early in the first but tied 6-6 following a block from Clara Culeton (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and Colleen McCabe (Rockville Centre, NY/Oceanside). Oswego continued to hold a narrow lead, and then two kills from senior Casey Biggers (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) cut the lead to 14-12. The Lakers answered with a 6-1 run before Ashanti Davis (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson) broke the streak with a kill to make it 20-14. Four Oswego errors brought Oneonta back in, and then an Annalisa Alicea (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) service ace put the Red Dragons behind 23-20. The Lakers then took two of the final three points to lead 1-0. 
Biggers capped off a 3-0 Oneonta run with an ace to give the Red Dragons a 16-11 lead in the second set. Oneonta held the lead before a kill from Oswego's Georgia Farry made it a two-point contest. Culeton sent in a kill to start a 4-0 run, with Karli Chamberlin (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) tallying two aces to tie the match 1-1. 
The third set was close until an Oswego error tied 11-11. The Lakers rattled off a 9-1 span with three aces to take a 20-12 lead. Another ace from Alicea and a Culeton block put Oneonta behind three, but Oswego closed out the set with two kills from Grace Taylor and Sydney Chiffriller. 
The Red Dragons bounced back in the fourth, and Davis tied 15-15 after sending in a kill. Oswego took the following two points, but another Davis kill added with an Alicea ace put the score at 17-17. After a bad set by Oneonta, the Red Dragons trailed 22-20. Oneonta scored the final five points, capped off with two straight Anna Moller (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach Senior) service aces. 
Oswego took a 10-6 lead in the fifth before two Lakers' errors cut the lead to two. Two kills from Davis made it 14-11, but an Oneonta service error gave Oswego the match victory. 
Davis led the team with 12 kills, while Biggers and Culeton added eight apiece. Alicea and Moller both had three aces. Culeton had a match-high five blocks, and Kayla Rende (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) dished out 28 assists. Carsyn Rachuta (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North) and Alicea both recorded ten digs. 
Emma Fiorentine recorded 16 kills for Oswego, and McKenna Corbin had a match-best 38 assists. 
Oneonta concludes the regular season next weekend when they host Baruch and Hartwick for the Dig Pink Invitational on Sat. Oct. 29 at noon.Â
