The SUNY Oneonta men's track & field team compiled 35 points to finish seventh overall at the Blue & Orange Invitational hosted by Utica College yesterday.

The Inside Story
For a third straight week, sophomore
Richard Mangogna (Kings Park/Kings Park) turned in the top performance of the day when he broke his own pole vault school record for a third consecutive week. Mangogna fell one inch shy of 15 feet in clearing 4.55 meters (14'-11") to set the new mark. Mangogna also posted a personal best time in the 60-meter dash crossing in 7.81 seconds.

Sophomore
Michael Carey (Washingtonville/Washingtonville) scored points for Oneonta in the pole vault as well finishing sixth tying his personal best height of 3.80 meters (12'-5 ½").

Oneonta's lone scorer in the sprints was sophomore
Eric Nieves (Thornwood/Westlake) who placed sixth in the 60 posting a personal best time of 7.22 seconds. Nieves also posted a personal best performance in the long jump recording a distance of 6.00 meters (19'-8 ¼").

Oneonta's lone individual event win was posted by senior
Norberto Cervantes (Williamson/Williamson) who won the weight throw. Cervantes edged out Brockport's Matt Faulise tossing the weight 16.19 meters (53'-1 ½").

What's Next
The men will return to Utica College next weekend when they compete in the two-day Pioneer Invitational beginning on Saturday.
