The SUNY Oneonta volleyball team fell to Union College 3-1 in non-conference action Friday evening. The loss drops the Red Dragons record to 1-7 on the year while the Dutchwomen improved to 4-6.

Just the Stats
Caitlin Christie (Bay Shore/Bay Shore) and Ashanti Davis (Cortlandt Manor/Hendrick Hudson) led Oneonta with nine kills apiece, while Ashlee Mazzella (Warwick/Warwick Valley) chipped in with eight. Christie and Davis also combined for 13 blocks. Carsyn Rachuta (Holbrook/Sachem North) had match-best 17 digs while Sophia Gerace (Pearl River/Pearl River) and Kayla Rende (Wantagh/Wantagh) dished out a combined 29 assists.
The Inside Story
The Red Dragons dominated the first set 25-10, before dropped the next three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-23. In the first set, Oneonta got things started with a 9-0 run with Sophia Gerace (Pearl River/Pearl River) at the service. During the run, Caitlin Christie (Bay Shore/Bay Shore) had three kills and a block assist. Leading 18-8, the Red Dragons put the set out of reach with 6-0 run with Gerace at the service again. During the run, Gerace delivered three aces.

What's Next
The Red Dragons return to action tomorrow morning when they return to Union College for a pair of Matches. Oneonta will battle Skidmore College at 10:00am before taking on Sage at noon.
