The SUNY Oneonta volleyball team opened SUNYAC play with a 3-0 setback to New Paltz on Tuesday evening at Chase Gymnasium. The loss drops the Red Dragons to 1-6 on the year while the Hawks improve to 4-5.

Caitlin Christie (Bay Shore/Bay Shore) led Oneonta with a team-best nine kills.
Ashanti Davis (Cortlandt Manor/Hendrick Hudson) and
Isabella Fabrizio (Highland Mills/Cornwall) chipped in with six kills apiece.

The Inside Story
The Red Dragons had a golden opportunity to take the first set after leading 24-20, but the Hawks rallied for six unanswered points with Dana Collins at the service to capture a 26-24 victory. Â In the second set, the two teams battled through seven lead changes before the Hawks took the lead for good. With the set knotted at 12-12, the Hawks used an 8-1 run to go ahead for good, earning a 25-19 win. In the third set, Oneonta jumped out to an early 4-0 lead. With the Red Dragons leading 6-2, New Paltz went on a 7-0 run to take a 9-6 advantage. Oneonta refused to give up, tying the set on three different occasions, before finally taking a 17-16 lead on a
