Oneonta got the scoring started 1:01 into the contest on a
Sophia Calabrese (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) free position goal. After New Paltz answered back with a free position goal of their own, Oneonta's
Tessa Hughes (Delmar/Bethlehem Central) and
Sophia Calabrese (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) scored 13 seconds apart to give the Red Dragons a 3-1 lead. New Paltz would pull within one on another free position goal, before
Kelly McCloe (Endicott/Union-Endicott) scored for Oneonta on a pass from
Megan Foiles (Pearl River/Pearl River) to make it 4-2. The Red Dragons extended their lead when
Sophia Calabrese (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) netted her third goal of the game with 19:16 remaining in the first half. The Hawks tallied back-to-back goals in 54 seconds to cut the Oneonta lead to 5-4. After
Megan Foiles (Pearl River/Pearl River) gave Oneonta a 6-4 lead, New Paltz scored consecutive goals to send the two teams into the half knotted up at 6-6.

Sophia Calabrese (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) opened the second half scoring with her fourth of the game, 4:35 into the stanza. The Hawks responded with three unanswered goals to take a 9-7 lead. The Red Dragons pulled within one when
Nicolette Lospitalier (Farmingdale/Farmingdale) fed
Lauren Sullivan (Pearl River/Pearl River) for a man-down goal. Oneonta's excitement was short-lived as New Paltz score three goals in 1:09 to take a 12-8 lead. The Red Dragons chipped away at the deficit with consecutive free position goals from
Tessa Hughes (Delmar/Bethlehem Central) and
Kelly McCloe (Endicott/Union-Endicott) to make the score 12-10. With 5:59 remaining in regulation, Amy Hofer scored what proved to be the game-winner on a man-advantage, upping the New Paltz lead to 13-10. Oneonta would make things interesting when
Sophia Calabrese (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) scored a man-down goal before
Tessa Hughes (Delmar/Bethlehem Central) found the back of the net, pulling the Red Dragons within striking distance. New Paltz was able to force a turnover with 25 seconds remaining to hold on for the victory.

New Paltz owned a 39-28 margin in shots for the game while going 20-for-20 on clear attempts. The Hawks also had a 16-11 advantage on draw controls; as well as a taking four more free position shots. Oneonta's
Haley Vermette (Brewster/North Salem) forced a season-high six turnovers while goal Jennifer Tumnio made a season-best 15 saves.
