In an early season wrestling tournament that included a mixture of nationally ranked squads, the SUNY Oneonta wrestlers finished 7
th overall in a field of 16 teams from around the east and Midwest.

The Inside Story
The top placewinner for the Red Dragons in the event was junior
Jhordyn Innocent (Spring Valley/Ramapo), who was the runner-up at 197 pounds. Innocent, who was seeded second, completed his day with a record of 4-1 being pinned once, which happened in the championship match against the No. 1 seed in his weight class.

Oneonta had three other wrestlers place in the top six of their respective weight classes. The trio included graduate student
Tyler Brazinski (Johnson City/Johnson City), senior
Anthony Romero (Spring Valley/Ramapo) and junior
Michael Blando (Massapequa/Massapequa). Brazinski placed third at 165 pounds, Romero was fifth at 133 pounds and Blando was fifth at 141 pounds.

Brazinski recorded a record of 4-1 with a pair of pins. Romero and Blando both were 3-2 on the day. All three of Blando's victories came via pinfall.

Fifth-year senior
Jacob Pine (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls) won a pair of matches at 285 pounds. Pine fell out of the championship bracket and was one match short of advancing into the top-6.

Giovanni Russo (Cortlandt Manor/Walter Panas) (125 lbs.),
Danny Poggi (West Islip/West Islip) (133 lbs.) and
Anderson Klosner (Ilion/Central Valley Academy) (149 lbs.) and sophomore
Noah Kennedy (Greene/Greene) (197 lbs.).
