Men's basketball wins Quality Inn Tipoff tournament

Red Dragons move to 3-0 in the early season

A Quick look
For the second time in its first three games, the SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team hit the century mark enroute to a lopsided 101-68 victory against Sage College.  The win for the Red Dragons kept them perfect in the early season at 3-0 while today's win earned them the title for the 2021 Quality Inn Tipoff Tournament.

"I am happy with our effort," said Head Coach Cameron Conover.  "I thought the guys made a good adjustment and we really started defending well after about 10 minutes into the game.  We will enjoy our day off tomorrow and focus on some rest and schoolwork and then get back to work on Monday."

The Inside Story
Oneonta asserted itself in the paint today outscoring Sage (2-1) 56-28.  The game was tight for about the first 10 minutes of the game before the Red Dragons started to pull away.

Oneonta kept pouring it on in the second half shooting even better enroute to a 55-point half.  The Red Dragons shot 58 percent in the first half and went for 62 percent in the second half.  Oneonta held the lead for more than 37 minutes of today's game.
