A Quick Look
In a game that felt more like a playoff game, the SUNY Oneonta men's soccer team was tripped up at home by New Paltz in double overtime 1-0. The loss for the Red Dragons was its second straight, as they fall to 8-2-1 overall and 4-1 in the SUNYAC. The win for the Hawks raised its overall record to 10-2 and 5-0 in conference play.
Â
"It was a little bit harsh on us at the end, but we were uncharacteristically sloppy with the ball throughout the game," said Head Coach
Iain Byrne. "We now have a short break before our last four matches on the road."

The Inside Story
The game-winner came off the foot of Joseph Dipreta on a direct kick from just outside the box after a foul was called on Oneonta. Dipreta lined it up and deposited a shot into the upper left corner of the goal just inside the post.
Â
The match was even throughout with each team trying to generate scoring chances. Neither team really tested the opposing keepers in a scoreless opening half. Oneonta managed six shots in the first half while holding New Paltz to just three.
Â
The second half was much of the same except for Oneonta having the most dangerous scoring chance during regulation early in the second half. Junior
Lucas Fecci (Somers/Somers) carried the ball for nearly 30 yards before taking a shot from just outside the box that New Paltz keeper Marc DePasquale had to dive to his right to make the save. Oneonta earned one of its five corner kicks of the second half but was unable to convert.
Â
Just the Stats
Oneonta finished the match with a 16-11 shot advantage and a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks. DePasquale recorded five saves for the Hawks and
Nate Hanna (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) collected three saves for the Red Dragons.
