A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta men's soccer team shut out Oswego today 2-0 to close out the regular season. The win for the Red Dragons (10-3-2, 6-2-1 SUNYAC) secured the No. 3 seed for the SUNYAC tournament, which begins next Saturday with first-round games. Oneonta will host a game, but at press time, the pairings have not been announced.
The Inside Story
Oneonta scored both of its goals in the opening half and then made it stand up. The first goal came in the 16
th minute of the match, as freshman
Francesco Posillico (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills West) scored his first collegiate goal unassisted.
Fifteen minutes later, senior
Matt Howe (Hopewell Junction/John Jay) scored his sixth goal of the season off an assist from junior
Lucas Fecci (Somers/Somers).
The Lakers pressured late in the second half, but were kept off the scoreboard, as Oneonta recorded its fourth shutout of the season.
Just the Stats
Oneonta held a slight edge in shots for the match at 16-14. Oneonta outshot the Lakers in the first half 13-5 before Oswego turned the tables to outshoot the Red Dragons 9-3 in the second half.

Francesco Scotti (Commack/Commack) made three saves to earn the shutout win for Oneonta.
