A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team wrapped up their regular season with a split at the RIT Tiger Duals Sunday afternoon. The Red Dragons began the day with a 41-12 win over Penn College before falling to RIT 39-7 in the nightcap.

The Inside Story
After Oneonta jumped out to a 6-0 lead against Penn College with a forfeit in the 125-pound bout, Andrew DeSousa (Smithtown/Smithtown West) made it 12-0 when he pinned Penn's Ryan Bauer is 5:54. Senior Ahken Chu (Patterson/Carmel) extended the Oneonta lead to 17-0 with a technical fall of Matthew Carpenter in the 141-pound match. Tyler Brazinski (Johnson City/Johnson City) then made quick work of Lukas O'Connor with a pin in 2:04 to give the Red Dragons a commanding 23-0 advantage.

After the Red Dragons dropped the 157-pound bout when Eric Brach (Bellmore/Bellmore/JFK) was pinned, senior Thomas Marrone (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) got four of the points back with a 5-4 decision over Dylan Gettys to make the score 26-6. Freshman Kevin Jorgensen (Bohemia/Connetquot) followed with a 17-10 decision over Colin Browne to extend the Oneonta margin to 29-6. After Penn College forfeited the 184-pound match, the Wildcats earned win in the 197-pound bout with an injury to make the score 35-12. Oneonta's Jacob pine wrapped up the win with a pin of Penn's Ty Stahli in 4:11 to make the final score 41-12.

The Red Dragons fell into an early 7-0 hole against RIT after losing the first two matches with a decision and major decision in the 125 and 133-pound matches. Ahken Chu (Patterson/Carmel) got four points back for Oneonta when he beat Isaiah Ocasio by way of technical fall. Tyler Brazinski (Johnson City/Johnson City) knotted the match at 7-7 with a 5-2 decision over James Ost in the 157-pound match. Unfortunately, that would be as close as Oneonta would get as the Tigers went on to win the remaining six matches.

What's Next
The Red Dragons return to action on Saturday, February 29th when they travel to Ithaca for the Mideast Regionals.
