For the second straight game, the SUNY Oneonta men's basketball had two players with 20+ points, as they picked up another SUNYAC win at Buffalo State tonight 88-76. Tonight, it was senior
Kevin Mackin (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) and junior
Andres Rivera (Bronx, NY/Walton) that led the way with 29 and 24 points respectively.

"Buffalo State came out on fire and jumped on us early, but our guys didn't flinch and responded big time," said Head Coach
Cameron Conover. "Our guys made the necessary defensive adjustments and Kevin made some big shots. We will get some rest tonight before we play a tough Fredonia team tomorrow."

The Inside Story
Oneonta (16-5, 12-2 SUNYAC) grabbed the lead late in the first half and never relinquished it. Trailing 39-32 with 2:58 to go in the first half, Mackin single-handedly scored the final 11 points for the Red Dragons, as they headed into the break with a 43-41 lead.

In the opening half, Oneonta overcame a 10-point deficit three times. The Red Dragons made seven, three-pointers in the first half including five by Mackin.

The Red Dragons began to pull away starting with an 11-3 run to open a 65-55 advantage. Rivera led the way with five points. Another 15-9 run put Oneonta in control 80-64 with under five minutes remaining. Four different players scored for the Red Dragons.

Just the Stats
Oneonta recorded 22 assists in the game led by senior
Ian Schultz (Clifton Park, NY/CBA) and junior
Sean Nolan (Voorheesville, NY/Voorheesville) who had seven and six assists respectively. The Red Dragons converted 17 turnovers into 22 points on the other end. Oneonta collected a season high 12 steals led by Mackin who had six.

Besides his points, Rivera led Oneonta with nine boards.Â
Harrison Deegan (Putnam Valley, NY/Putnam Valley) was the other player in double figures tonight with 18 points.

The men will complete its weekend trip tomorrow with a game at Fredonia beginning at 4pm.
