Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Six players reach double figures in men's basketball win at Fredonia

Senior Ian Schultz reaches 500 career rebounds

A Quick Look
Six players scored in double figures to lead the SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team to a 90-75 win today at Fredonia.  The win for the Red Dragons completed a 3-0 week to raise its overall record to 17-5 and 13-2 in the SUNYAC where they sit in second place.

"Any SUNYAC win is a good win," said Head Coach Cameron Conover.  "Fredonia plays hard and they made us work defensively.  Ian played tough and extended some plays with great hustle.  Congratulations to him on grabbing his 500th rebound, which is among the all-time leaders.  We will take tomorrow off before getting back to work on Monday to prepare for a strong Oswego squad."

The Inside Story
Oneonta assumed control of today's contest in the first half shooting just under 60 percent that included five shots from behind the arc.  Sophomore Dylan Trombley (Moriah, NY/Moriah) came off the bench to lead the way with 16 of his team high 19 points in the game.  Seniors Harrison Deegan (Putnam Valley, NY/Putnam Valley) and Kevin Mackin (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) added 10 points and 11 points respectively.

The Red Dragons found themselves behind 12-6 in the opening seven minutes of the game before taking control with a 16-2 run over the next five minutes that gave them a 22-14 lead.  Deegan and Trombley combined to score 15 of the points during the burst.

A jumper by Trombley at the 5:33 mark put Oneonta's lead into double digits where it would stay until the 15:23 mark of the second half when Fredonia cut its deficit to nine points.  Another three-pointer by Trombley kicked the Red Dragons' lead back into double figures where it would remain for the rest of the contest.

Just the Stats
Joining Trombley, Deegan and Mackin in double figures today was junior Andres Rivera (Bronx, NY/Walton) (11 points), Schultz (10 points) and junior Kameron Hickey (Atlanta, GA/Etowah) (13 points).

Oneonta outrebounded Fredonia 41-23 with Deegan and Schultz each collecting eight boards.  Deegan also added nine assists, as Oneonta collected 21 dimes in the game.
