The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team went 2-1 on the day as they competed at the Ithaca Quad Meet on Sunday afternoon. The Red Dragons began the day with a 27-12 loss to sixth ranked Ithaca College. Oneonta then defeated Williams College 22-15 before wrapping up the day with a 24-15 win over Wesleyan University.

Senior James Bethel (Saugerties/Saugerties) and junior Tyler Brazinski (Johnson City/Johnson City) paced the Red Dragons with three wins apiece. Bethel began his day with hard fought 3-1 decision over Ithaca's Jake O'Brien, who is currently the fifth ranked heavyweight in DIII. After earning a win by forfeit against Williams, Bethel capped off his day with pin of Wesleyan's Owen Verespy in 49 seconds. Bethel is now 38-1 on the year with 25 pins.

Brazinski won all three of his matches by decision. Brazinski started his day with an 8-6 decision over Ithaca's Demitri D'Orsaneo. Brazinski then battled his way to a 5-4 win over Alex Pankhurst from Williams College before wrapping up his day with a 3-0 decision over Wesleyan's Shane Ross.

Four other Oneonta wrestlers earned two victories on the day. Junior Ahken Chu (Patterson/Carmel) gathered a 7-2 decision over Ithaca's Chris Wymer before finishing with a 4-0 victory over Wesleyan's Tristan Stetson. After getting pinned in his first match of the day, senior Ryan Marszal (Unadilla/Unatego) won his final two contests of the day. Marszal got back on track with an 11-0 decision over Nick Anselmi from Williams College before earning a 12-3 win over Wesleyan's Duncan Kreutter. Classmate Peter Pjetri (Suffern/Suffern) also rallied for two wins after dropping his first match.  Pjetri collected a 9-5 decision over Sebastian Dziadkiewicz from Williams College before finishing his day with a 4-3 victory over Wesleyan's Simon Chee. Thomas Marrone (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) captured his first two matches of the day, defeating Ithaca's Graden Alpert with an 8-2 decision before earning a 4-0 win over Yo Ayiyama from Williams College.

The Red Dragons return to action on Wednesday, February 6^th when they travel to Oswego for a 7:00 p.m. match with the Lakers.
